Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and install various construction elements, including walls, ceilings, and floors, using metal studs and gypsum board.
  • Float and finish gypsum board to ensure a smooth and even surface.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning and applying a suitable primer.
  • Manage and maintain a supply of materials on site to ensure efficient project completion.
  • Install suspended ceiling tiles and vinyl floor tile to meet our facilities' needs.
  • Build and install millwork, including cabinets, shelves, and countertops.
  • Perform general knowledge of plastic laminate work, including patch repairs and new installations.
  • Build, patch, repair, or replace wooden items, such as furniture, cabinets, and shelves.
  • Assist fellow employees in maintenance and repairs as needed.
  • Maintain and clean the shop area and tools to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Observe and adhere to all safety regulations and practices to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Perform additional duties as required, necessary, and directed by management.
  • Cooperate and work with fellow employees to achieve our facilities' goals.
  • Follow North Oaks Health System's Compliance Programs and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines to ensure compliance and adherence to industry standards.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in construction is required, with a preference for experience in hospital and/or other facility settings.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required, along with general knowledge of commercial construction.
  • Considerable knowledge of tools and their operation is necessary to perform the duties of this role.
  • Manual or physical skills are required, including hand-eye coordination, the ability to operate electronic and mechanical devices, and the ability to lift 100 lbs.
  • Physical effort is required, including frequent walking, climbing of stairs and ladders, intermittent stooping, bending, and crawling, and steady muscular exertion.
