Job Summary:

Sterling Engineering is seeking a skilled Piping Designer to join our team. As a Piping Designer, you will be responsible for designing and drafting piping systems, including layout of complex vessels and foundations, using AutoCAD drawing techniques. You will work closely with our engineering team to ensure that all designs meet the required scope, schedule, and budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and draft piping systems, including layout of complex vessels and foundations, using AutoCAD drawing techniques.
  • Perform field visits when necessary, with a familiarity of P&IDS.
  • Initiate 3D model design and participate in all review meetings.
  • Provide design computations, isometrics, plans, sketches, and bill of material when applicable.
  • Provide information for inter-discipline coordination.
  • Review design drawings for quality and accuracy.
  • Participate in project meetings.
  • Develop and maintain department's standard details, procedures, and notes.
  • Develop and maintain project drawing list.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Associate's Degree.
  • 5-7 years of experience working in piping design and plant layout in an industrial environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of 3D AutoCAD software, Cloud Scanning Software, and Solidworks.
  • Ability to translate field and design sketches into detailed finished construction documents.
  • Knowledge of multi-discipline project design execution and construction methods.
  • Knowledge of industry codes as it applies to assigned projects.
  • Must be well organized and able to prioritize work.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with project team.
  • Ability to juggle more than one project at a time and set priorities.
