As a Stormwater Engineer at Freese and Nichols, you will lead the production of hydraulic and hydrologic analyses, and prepare technical reports for various projects, including open channels, closed conduit systems, drainage master planning, and CIPs, detention/retention ponds, mitigation of drainage impacts, and regional flood planning.



Project Management

You will support the management of small and large-sized projects, prepare and maintain project schedules, track project financials, prepare monthly status reports, and interface with clients.



Team Leadership

You will work independently and oversee the work of teams of professionals and analysts, providing direction and mentorship to junior staff.



Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 5+ years' experience in stormwater management
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to become licensed within 6 months
  • Experience with a diverse range of software packages, including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, ICM, ArcGIS Pro, and the Microsoft office suite
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills



Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • CFM Certification and/or experience in floodplain management practices
  • Experience with the preparation of design plans, technical specifications, and opinion of probable construction costs for stormwater infrastructure projects
  • Experience with streambank stabilization, channel restoration, desilting, and natural stable channel design
  • Experience with development of FEMA flood studies, LOMRs, and CLOMRs, and knowledge of FEMA RiskMap Program, Guidelines and Standards for Flood Risk Analysis and Mapping
