Company Overview and Position:
As an Environmental Services Technician, you will be integral to our Infection Control and Prevention efforts by maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout our healthcare facilities.

Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Supervisor of Environmental Services

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough cleaning services in patient rooms, both occupied and unoccupied, as well as in designated areas of the facility.
  • Provide cleaning services in public spaces, including tasks such as vacuuming, cleaning baseboards, vents, fans, and elevators.
  • Perform deep cleaning and disinfection of isolation rooms for contagious diseases, including Tuberculosis (TB), C-Diff, and COVID-19, along with bathrooms, managing waste disposal, spot cleaning carpets and furniture, washing windows and walls, dusting furniture and equipment, and ensuring cleanliness of various surfaces.
  • Oversee the exchange of sharp containers and deliver clean linen carts to designated storage areas, ensuring organized utility rooms.
  • Complete all other assigned tasks within the Environmental Services department.
Qualifications:
  • At least 1 year of experience in housekeeping, linen services, or other environmental services, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to demonstrate a basic understanding of cleaning procedures and equipment operation after successfully completing a 90-day training period.
Essential Skills and Competencies:
  • Knowledge of proper handling and disposal of infectious medical waste and soiled linen.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic familiarity with hand and power tools.
Interactions and Relationships:
In this role, you will interact with patients, their families, and medical personnel throughout the facility.

Physical Requirements:

Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE); ability to handle various equipment, supplies/chemicals, and light to medium-weight furniture. The position involves extended periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, and stretching.

Work Environment:

This position involves exposure to indoor and outdoor environmental changes, including temperature fluctuations. There is a significant risk of exposure to cleaning chemicals and blood/bloodborne pathogens.
