Job Title: Technical Program Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Program Manager to join our Optics, Photonics and Light Systems team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optics and display systems, with experience in managing technical programs and leading cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with research, engineering, and business teams to define program roadmaps, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain an overall program schedule, taking into account feedback from multiple work streams.
  • Work closely with technical leads to establish program strategy, prioritize tasks, and deliver against OKRs.
  • Identify resources needed and ensure full visibility of multiple projects, addressing resource gaps efficiently.
  • Proactively identify technical, legal, procedural, logistical, and communication issues, and drive creative solutions to fix them and manage both technical and programmatic risks.
  • Engage with cross-functional and external teams to identify constraints, dependencies, and risks/issues, and recommend action plans to address them.
  • Develop and coordinate communication between internal and external teams and partners.
  • Report program status, issues, challenges, and help needed with all stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Display, Systems Engineering, Imaging Science, Electronics, Optics, or Physics, and 7+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager.
  • PMP or PMI certification beneficial.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience and knowledge of display and/or optics development, including manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with driving programs in a research environment.
  • Project management, leadership, dependency management, and cross-group technical collaboration experience.
  • Experience managing external technical engagements with industry and academia.
  • Organizational experience, including managing cross-team budgets and headcount.
  • Systems architecture application experience in technical domains.
  • Cross-functional peer communications, leveraging partnerships and enabling 3rd party ecosystem.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
  • Client material synthesis or discovery.
  • Scaled operations and manufacturing experience.
  • Program Manager side budget planning and budget cycles.
  • Experience with AR/VR cell phone display, smart watch display, or materials used in consumer electronics.
