Job Title: Human Resources Professional 1

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Human Resources Professional 1 to join our team at the Iowa Department of Education. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing guidance and advice to management on human resources policies, work rules, and recruitment and selection processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and advice to management on human resources policies, work rules, and recruitment and selection processes.
  • Consult with agency managers on all employee-related issues, including investigations and disciplinary actions.
  • Develop and maintain human resource policies and procedures for the department.
  • Coordinate the agency's effort to standardize all documentation.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors and employees regarding FMLA and other leave programs.
  • Facilitate the interactive process with employees and managers for all Reasonable Accommodation Requests.
  • Work with leaders to ensure that all employees have proper tools and training to perform the essential functions of their position.
  • Review, research, create, and maintain human resource policies for the DOE Employee Handbook.
  • Interpret state and federal laws pertaining to human resource and workforce management.
  • Responsible for the department's Affirmative Action plan.

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree.
  • A combination of a total of four years of education and full-time experience in technical or professional human resources work.
  • Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes three years of full-time work performing technical human resources work.
