**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Security Officer to join our team at the Maryland School for the Blind. As a Security Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our students, staff, and facilities.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Conduct daily rounds of campus facilities and grounds to identify and mitigate potential security risks.
  • Patrol campus areas on foot and by vehicle to deter and respond to security incidents.
  • Secure and open facilities in accordance with school schedules and special events.
  • Complete and submit daily security log reports and incident reports as needed.
  • Respond to campus emergencies, including fire alarms, illnesses, evacuations, and utility failures.
  • Assist staff with safety drills and evacuations.
  • Report safety hazards and enforce campus traffic and parking rules.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

**Requirements:**

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Requires a Class C driver's license with a driving record compatible with School standards.
  • Requires a High School diploma or equivalent; Associates Degree or higher preferred.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals with an emphasis on customer service.
  • Ability to function independently and make sound judgment decisions.
  • Prior experience in a leadership role preferred.
  • Proficient computer and technology skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods in all types of weather conditions.
  • Ability to achieve CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within six months and maintain certifications.
  • General knowledge of standard safety and security procedures.

**Working Conditions:**

This is a full-time, regular position with a 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, 5am-1pm. Hours are subject to change. This position follows the standard twelve-month school calendar and is benefits eligible.

$15.69/hour
