About the Position:
We are seeking an experienced Prevention Counselor to join our team in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The successful candidate will provide substance abuse prevention education to children and youth in designated Broward schools/areas under the direction of the Program Manager. This role requires building resistance and social competency skills to change attitudes/behaviors, prevent and reduce substance use, and promote healthy behaviors.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide a variety of fun and engaging activities to help youth build skills and develop resiliency, including group discussions and structured activities.
  • Complete ongoing and daily documentation, including but not limited to, prevention activity logs, fidelity checklists, and attendance sheets.
  • Collect and gather evaluation data for program outcomes.
  • File documentation in assigned charts on a weekly basis.
  • Attend community meetings and conduct outreach activities, as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing substance abuse training required by the grant, and complete all agency-required training within the designated deadlines.
  • Attend supervision with the Program Manager on a weekly basis.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related human services field - required.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and schedule workload effectively and efficiently.
  • Excellent ability to work directly with the public and out in the community.
  • Direct contact with clients required.

Salary and Benefits:
$50,000 annually.
