Pharmacy Director Job Description

Upham's Community Care is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Director to lead our retail pharmacy team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for planning, directing, and monitoring all financial, operational, professional, and clinical activities of the department.

Primary Function:

The Pharmacy Director will work closely with leadership to ensure programmatic success, complete business objectives, and inform strategic and operational priorities for the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  1. Design, implement, and oversee systems to ensure productivity for Pharmacy.
  2. Implement Policies and Procedures that ensure the Pharmacy department provides optimal pharmaceutical services that meet all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements.
  3. Reviews, revises and/or creates Policy and Procedures annually or as required.
  4. Maintains inventory of pharmaceuticals in accordance with State and Federal Regulations.
  5. Creates the annual budget and submits capital expenditures requests per policy.
  6. Oversees day to day operations of the Pharmacy.
  7. Orders medications for pharmacy, and codes carts, in-house medications and vaccines for UCC departments as allowable by regulations.
  8. Ensures compliance that medication profiles are maintained by the pharmacy staff.
  9. Oversees the preparation of medications by pharmacy staff in accordance with UCC's Policy, Procedures and Federal and State Regulations.
  10. Provides oversight regarding accurate information, education and consultation about drugs and their use to staff and patients.
  11. Maintains and updates all required documentation for State and Federal Regulatory agencies.
  12. Maintains up to date pharmacy equipment and access to online pharmacy manuals.
  13. Leads the UCC Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.
  14. Utilizes the current computer system to manage the pharmacy inventory, client registration, billing and reporting functions.
  15. In coordination with Human Resources, oversees the credentialing, licensing, competency of pharmacy staff.

The Pharmacy Director and the Pharmacist on duty are responsible for pharmacy security and control access to the pharmacy area.

The Pharmacy Director has a corresponding responsibility to ensure that prescriptions are dispensed by a practitioner for legitimate use in the usual course of professional practice.

Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

Current, active MA Pharmacist License required.

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited college or university required.

3-5 years retail/outpatient pharmacy experience.

Minimum of 2 years management experience.

Knowledge and experience with 340B programs and oversight preferred.

Bilingual language skills highly desirable.

Level 4 access to PHI.
