Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Cardiovascular Technician:
Monitors and manages the utilization of resources related to patient care. Employs effective communication skills in daily practice while maintaining a safe environment. Performs scrub responsibilities in the cardiac catheterization lab and radiology special procedures using surgical asepsis. Monitors patient hemodynamics, including basic EKG recognition, and communicates relevant information to appropriate personnel. Maintains accurate and complete documentation of all patient care-related information. Assists with pre- and post-procedure duties, inventory management, and area organization. Performs sheath removal and assists with stress testing duties, Holter monitor hookup, scanning, and ECGs while maintaining the ECG electronic system. Provides care that aligns with the hospital's mission statement, serving adults and the elderly.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an accredited cardiovascular technology program or equivalent. Must possess current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) certification. If not certified, must obtain registry within 18 months of start date. Previous experience in Cardiac Cath Lab/Specials Radiology is preferred. Must be available for on-call duties and arrive at the facility within 30 minutes when called. Knowledge of cardiac rhythms and cath lab/radiology special procedures is preferred. BLS and ACLS certifications are required within specified timeframes.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
Demonstrates the ability to perform specific competencies as outlined in the Competency Assessment Forms. Meets performance goals established in the Performance Management Plan while ensuring a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:


Prolonged standing/walking; frequent lifting, positioning, pushing, and transferring of patients; moderate physical effort required. Manual dexterity and mobility needed for frequent reaching, stooping, bending, and crouching.



WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens and contact with patients in various circumstances. Subject to unpredictable situations and emergency care requirements. May experience irregular hours and pressures due to multiple calls and inquiries.

What qualifications you will need:
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date. Registered Radiographer (ARRT) and State Registered Radiologic Technician certifications are required. An Associate Degree is also necessary.
