Job Summary and Qualifications
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technician plays a vital role in our mission by assisting in the delivery of safe and effective nursing care within the operating room.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care and observation.
- Scrub and assist the surgeon during procedures.
- Ensure surgical room turnover between cases.
- Collect and document relevant clinical data in the medical record.
- Collaborate consistently with the Registered Nurse in clinical decision-making.
What you will do in this role:
- Demonstrate the necessary practical and specialized skills required for the surgical technician role.
- Prepare the operating suite for surgery by checking and gathering supplies, equipment, and instruments.
- Maintain surgical asepsis in handling instruments and materials.
- Assist in the turnover of the operating room between cases, including disposal of waste and cleaning of equipment.
- Prepare the procedure room for the following day by organizing equipment and reporting any shortages to the supervisor.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program (preferred).
- One year of experience in an operating room setting (preferably in an ambulatory surgery center).
- Valid BCLS Certification upon employment (online certification not acceptable).
