KIPP Indy Public Schools is part of the largest nonprofit network of college-preparatory charter schools in the United States. Our mission is to ensure that every child has the opportunity to excel academically, irrespective of their background. Currently, we serve over 120,000 students across 270 schools nationwide, including a significant presence in Indianapolis. KIPP Indy, established in 2004, has grown to accommodate 1,300 students across three campuses, with a diverse student body where 94% qualify for free and reduced lunch, and 95% identify as African American or LatinX.
Position Summary
KIPP Indy is in search of a Multilingual Learners (MLL) Teacher of Record dedicated to delivering exceptional educational experiences to our students. This role requires a commitment to high-quality instruction and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of linguistically diverse learners.
Key Responsibilities
- Exhibit a profound understanding of effective teaching methodologies tailored for students from varied linguistic backgrounds.
- Implement SIOP (Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol) strategies consistently within the classroom.
- Develop and oversee Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) while providing necessary academic support for multilingual students.
- Track and analyze progress monitoring data related to student language proficiency.
- Enforce classroom management policies throughout the school environment.
- Create a nurturing and inclusive learning atmosphere.
- Maintain open lines of communication with parents and families.
- Engage in school-wide events, including family conferences and open houses.
- Utilize assessments and data to set educational goals and guide instructional decisions.
- Fulfill all classroom-related administrative tasks, including managing student records and attendance.

- Participate in professional development opportunities, including summer training and ongoing equity-focused workshops.
- Be available for evening communication with families regarding educational concerns.
- Engage actively in staff meetings and foster open communication with colleagues.
- Adhere to all policies outlined in the KIPP Indy Employee Handbook.
- Demonstrate flexibility in meeting the diverse needs of students and staff.
Qualifications
- Ability to utilize data effectively to address challenges.

Required Qualifications
- Valid Indiana Teaching License or in the process of obtaining reciprocity.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Commitment to serving underserved student populations.
- Preferred: Minimum of two years teaching experience in an urban public elementary setting.
- Preferred: Experience in data analysis to inform instructional practices.
