About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Claims Specialist to join our North America Claims team at AXIS Capital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for handling Large Complex Builder's Risk claims and will report directly to the Head of Property Claims.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct management of claims, including investigation, analysis, and evaluation of coverage liability and damages
  • Providing technical advice, training, and guidance to direct reports and TPA/Contractor adjusters
  • Recruiting, hiring, and retaining top talent and developing succession plans
  • Reviewing claims to determine nature of loss, coverage provided, and scope of claim
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners
  • Collaborating with the Specialty Complex Claims team on coverage disputes and litigation matters
  • Formulating claims and litigation strategies, assigning, directing, and managing outside counsel
  • Managing costs and collaborating with the Litigation Management and Vendor Management teams
  • Fostering relationships with senior executives, brokers, reinsurers, actuaries, underwriters, insureds, and auditors
  • Supporting underwriting inquiries and information requests
  • Maintaining documentation of key line of business statistics and metrics
  • Leading and participating in presentations and discussions with Underwriters and Insureds
  • Leading and participating in claim audits and audit wrap-up meetings
  • Identifying liability and coverage trends and issues
  • Actively coaching and mentoring direct reports
Requirements
  • 5-10+ years of claims management experience in Casualty and/or Specialty Lines Claims
  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and management skills or experience practicing law as well as claims management
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels
  • Analytical thinker with ability to drive results using all facets of the legal and claims processes
  • Understanding of and ability to balance both the immediate claim issues and the broader portfolio impact and customer service impact of coverage disputes and issues
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability and experience handling casualty claims involving a wide variety of loss scenarios
  • In-depth knowledge of claims, litigation, arbitration, and trial processes
  • Technical knowledge, skills, and training within the field

The base salary for this position is in the range of USD $145,000 - $170,000, with competitive incentive targets and awards based on overall corporate and individual performance.
