Job Overview:
The Outpatient Pharmacy Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing all facets of the pharmacy team and its operations. This role involves monitoring efficiency and spearheading initiatives for continuous enhancement. The Manager is dedicated to ensuring an exceptional customer service experience while achieving optimal operational and clinical results.

This position typically leads a team of fewer than thirty pharmacy professionals, including Team Leads and Pharmacy Technician Supervisors, or may have extensive oversight across multiple units or practice areas, alongside departmental responsibilities that involve complex processes or workflows.

Determination of qualifications for the Manager I role will be made in collaboration with system leaders to ensure equity across the organization.

The allocation of time spent on administrative tasks is defined at the facility or department level, based on the scope of the Manager I's responsibilities and in cooperation with peers to maintain fairness throughout the system.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional evening or weekend hours as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
As an Outpatient Pharmacy Operations Manager, you will be expected to:
- Oversee the daily operations of the pharmacy department, supervising personnel, ensuring equipment functionality, and coordinating patient care services.
- Collaborate with the management team on planning, program development, human resource management, budget oversight, customer satisfaction, patient safety, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Perform pharmacist duties as needed.
- Assess service demands and adjust staffing levels accordingly, ensuring effective and safe patient care through appropriate staffing and scheduling.
- Facilitate communication with associates and physicians through regular meetings and updates regarding departmental and organizational activities.
- Ensure compliance within the department and lead problem-solving initiatives to address patient safety and service issues.
- Foster effective working relationships and collaborate with interdepartmental teams to achieve departmental goals.
- Manage human resource functions, including interviewing, selection, training, performance evaluations, and policy development.
- Assist in the preparation of the department's operating and capital budgets, monitoring fiscal accountability and supply inventories.
- Partner with leadership to identify and implement quality and performance improvement initiatives, ensuring adherence to regulatory guidelines and departmental policies.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited College of Pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science Degree or Pharm D.
  • Current state licensure in Pharmacy.
  • Previous leadership experience.

Five (5) years of experience in pharmacy practice is required.

  • MBA or relevant advanced degree is preferred.
  • Board certification in pharmacy practice or relevant specialty is preferred.
  • MTM (Medication Therapy Management) certification is preferred.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications are preferred.
  • Immunization certification is preferred.
  • 340B certification is preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience in hospital pharmacy is preferred.

Physical Requirements:
Includes hearing, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, vision, sitting, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, and walking.
