About Our Agency

The State of Georgia's Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is a state agency responsible for policies, programs, and services related to mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these.

We operate six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas: behavioral health, developmental disabilities, and hospital services.

Georgia Regional Hospital at Savannah (GRHS) is a state-funded multi-service facility operated by our department. The hospital provides quality care to mentally ill adults and individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities from its 34-county catchment area in Southeast Georgia.

About This Role

We are seeking candidates for the position of Registered Nurse - 3rd Shift. This is a full-time position eligible for State Benefits. The successful candidate will work 11:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess client health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled clients.
  • May advise clients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.
  • Administers prescribed medications or starts intravenous fluids, and notes times and amounts on clients' charts.
  • Consults and coordinates with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate client care plans.
  • Maintains accurate, detailed reports and client records.
  • Modifies client treatment plans as indicated by clients' responses and conditions.
  • Monitors all aspects of client care, including diet and physical activity.
  • Monitors, records, and reports symptoms and changes in clients' conditions.
  • Observes nurses and visits clients to ensure that proper nursing care is provided.
  • Prepares clients for, and assists with, examinations and treatments.
  • Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies, and ensures that stock of supplies is maintained.
  • Provides education to clients and families.
  • Provides healthcare, first aid, immunizations, and assistance in convalescence and rehabilitation.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is approximately $69,148 per year.

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university OR Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND any related professional work experience.
