Job Summary

This is a full-time, regular position in the Irrigation Systems department at Broward College. The Senior Specialist, Irrigation will supervise the performance of ground maintenance functions in a safe, productive, and time-efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage the work of individuals and maintenance crews performing general grounds maintenance work at various college campuses.
  • Review and ensure the quality of work performed by maintenance teams.
  • Perform related work as directed by management.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three or more years of experience in a recognized trade at the journey level or 4 years of apprenticeship in a relevant trade(s), or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid Driver's license required for positions operating college motor vehicles.
  • Desirable certifications/ licenses include Tree trimmer I certification, Fork lift certification, Man lift certification, CDL Class D, EPA Freon certificate, certification from an accredited technical school.

Working Conditions

This position allows eligible veterans and their spouses to claim Veterans' Preference pursuant to Florida Statute 295. Certain servicemembers may be eligible to receive waivers for postsecondary educational requirements, in the employment by the state and its political subdivisions and are encouraged to apply for the positions being filled.
