About the Position

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Worker/Helper to join our team at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our facilities and equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems associated with assigned facilities equipment.
  • Construct, maintain, repair, and alter exterior and interior surfaces and structures built of various materials.
  • Operate, control, and maintain blasting equipment, including hoppers, blasting units, hoses, and nozzles.
  • Operate forklifts on uneven conditions to unload vehicles and move materials in outside storage yards.
  • Work with close general supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee to ensure tasks are properly performed.
Requirements
  • Ability to perform common duties as a maintenance worker, including rough carpentry work, sandblasting, and painting.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment, including overhead cranes, skid steer, dump truck, aerial lifts, and forklifts.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with close general supervision.
  • Ability to lift, position, and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds.
Working Conditions

**Physical Effort:**

The position requires considerable standing, stooping, and bending. Work is performed largely outside during the day or night, subject to inclement weather and extreme temperature variations.

**Working Conditions:**

The position involves working on high structures, in the proximity of moving machinery and energized electrical equipment, and sometimes on floating craft or elevated platforms.
