Position Overview:
The Custodial Maintenance Technician plays a vital role in maintaining a clean and safe environment within the university premises. This position is essential for ensuring that all areas are well-kept and presentable for students, faculty, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
In accordance with established cleaning protocols, the incumbent will:
1. Execute general and specialized cleaning tasks to uphold a hygienic atmosphere.
2. Attend to urgent cleaning needs during emergencies, such as water or fire damage.
3. Support special events by preparing and maintaining cleanliness in designated areas.
Daily Duties:
The technician is expected to cover approximately 28,000-35,000 square feet of space during each shift. Responsibilities include:
- Cleaning restrooms to facilitate university operations.
- Maintaining hallways, staircases, and elevators, including vacuuming and spot cleaning carpets.
- Ensuring all surfaces are free from marks and smudges, dusting light fixtures, and polishing brass elements.
- Cleaning administrative offices, laboratories, and classrooms as assigned.
Resource Management:
Efficient use of cleaning supplies and materials is crucial. Responsibilities include:
- Monitoring inventory levels and requisitioning necessary supplies.
- Keeping the supervisor informed about supply needs to maintain adequate stock.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
- One year of experience in custodial work is advantageous.
- A valid driver's license from the relevant jurisdiction is required.
- Basic proficiency in English to understand instructions and communicate effectively.
Work Environment:
This position is designated as On-Campus, and work mode designations are subject to review to adapt to the university's evolving needs.
