About the Position

The Marketing and Communications Associate will support the development and implementation of marketing and communications strategies for the School of Theater at George Mason University.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Social Media Presence: Develop and implement a social media strategy to engage with audiences and promote the School of Theater's programs and events.
  • Create Content: Design and create content for the School of Theater's website, social media channels, and promotional materials.
  • Collaborate with Faculty and Staff: Work with faculty and staff to develop content and coordinate marketing efforts.
  • Plan and Coordinate Events: Assist with planning and coordinating events, including performances and exhibitions.
  • Update Website: Maintain and update the School of Theater's website using Drupal CMS.
  • Work with Marketing Team: Collaborate with the College of Visual and Performing Arts marketing team to ensure consistency with Mason's brand standards.
Required Qualifications
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Social Media Knowledge: Have knowledge of industry standards for social media and proficiency in social media platforms.
  • Content Creation Experience: Have experience creating content for websites, social media, and promotional materials.
  • Web CMS Experience: Have experience using a web content management system such as Drupal or WordPress.
  • MS Office Experience: Possess experience with MS Office.
  • Arts Knowledge: Have knowledge of the arts and how audiences receive information.
  • Education: Possess a B.A. in English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications, or a related area or equivalent experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Adobe Creative Suite Experience: Have experience using Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Content Development Experience: Have experience developing strategic content.
  • Press Release Experience: Have experience drafting press releases.
  • University Experience: Have previous experience working in a university or in an arts environment.
