Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Irrigation Technician to join our team at Collin County Community College. As an Irrigation Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing district irrigation systems, as well as overseeing irrigation crews in the absence of the Irrigation Specialist.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of all district irrigation systems, including minor installation projects, while addressing water conservation principles.
  • Oversee irrigation crews in the absence of the Irrigation Specialist and ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as checking and replacing irrigation system components, and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
  • Collaborate with the Grounds Manager or Grounds Foreman to ensure that all irrigation-related tasks are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned, such as mowing, edging, planting, pruning, and other landscape-oriented job functions.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of irrigation experience, with the ability to obtain a TCEQ Irrigators License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and ordinances pertaining to landscape irrigation.
  • Knowledge of all irrigation components and equipment.
  • Knowledge of water conservation principles and practices.
Working Conditions

This position requires frequent exposure to outdoor environments, including extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, and intense noises. The incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for extended periods.

Candidates must possess a current State of Texas driver license and be able to obtain an Irrigation Technician License within one (1) year of employment.

This position is Security Sensitive, therefore, candidates will be subject to a criminal background check.
