Reports to: Shop Manager
POSITION SUMMARY
The Logistics Support II role is crucial for managing the flow of materials and products within the organization. This position is accountable for the effective receipt and storage of incoming supplies, as well as the preparation and dispatch of goods for shipment. The individual will liaise with transportation providers and sales teams to ensure timely and accurate shipments, while also maintaining comprehensive documentation for both domestic and international deliveries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to the daily operational schedule and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Conduct inventory transactions to ensure precise inventory levels.
- Assist in expediting orders to align with shipping deadlines.
- Manage the stocking of items received into inventory.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing principles and methodologies.
- Generate shipping documentation for both domestic and international shipments; maintain regular communication with freight carriers and forwarders to arrange shipments, and prepare necessary documents including packing slips and waybills to guarantee prompt delivery with complete and accurate paperwork.
- Label packed cartons appropriately and verify that outgoing shipments comply with all domestic and international requirements, including customs documentation.
- Receive and inspect incoming goods for damage; report any issues to the supervisor; reject goods lacking proper documentation and prepare items for inventory.
- Unpack and assess incoming shipments, documenting any discrepancies and coordinating with shippers to resolve issues.
- Maintain an inventory of shipping materials and supplies, assisting with inventory control and periodic counts.
- Operate material handling equipment safely to move shipments from the shipping and receiving area to storage or workspaces.
- Perform inventory control duties as required.
- Exhibit professionalism under pressure, foster positive working relationships, demonstrate reliable attendance, and be willing to work additional hours as necessary to meet operational demands.
- Occasional local travel may be required.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma or GED.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in domestic and international shipping processes, or a comparable combination of education and experience.
- A valid Driver's License is required.
- Capability to obtain Forklift Certification.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the employee to meet specific physical demands to successfully perform essential functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. Regular activities include talking, hearing, standing, walking, crouching, bending, and using hands for handling or feeling. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds (assistance available), as well as operate heavy equipment safely.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment may expose the employee to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and other potential hazards. Noise levels can vary from moderate to loud, depending on the activity. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided and must be used as required.
