About the Role

Penske Logistics is seeking a highly skilled Load Planner to join our team. As a key member of our logistics team, you will be responsible for coordinating all processes and functions of load planning and freight movement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process customer orders, plan and optimize shipments into loads, and tender freight to third-party carriers.
  • Update the Transportation Management System with current shipment information.
  • Provide detailed instructions to customers and associates from other shifts via phone and email.
  • Track and monitor shipments, identifying and resolving operational issues or functions.
  • Coordinate with carriers to ensure on-time delivery, tracking trucks for pick-up, estimating times of arrival and delivery, and recovering loads when necessary.
  • Investigate and report on load exceptions.
  • Make informed decisions regarding financial alternatives and negotiate rates with carriers.
  • Complete daily logs and trackers.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain Management preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in Transportation/Supply Chain preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize time-sensitive situations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Advanced desktop computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong customer focus and ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships.
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment and work First, Second, and Third Shift as needed.
