Job Summary

As a key member of the Morrison Living team, the Sous Chef I plays a vital role in ensuring the success of our food program. This position involves assisting with all aspects of food preparation, including planning, ordering, inventory, and presentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in culinary arts and excellent leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordinating and participating in the preparation and cooking of various food items.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to plan and create menus that meet the needs of our residents.
  • Develop and implement new culinary programs to enhance the dining experience.
  • Manage cost controls and ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • 5 years of related culinary experience, including 1 year at the management level.
  • Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations.
  • Knowledge of food and industry trends, with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, safety, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Supervisory, leadership, training, management, and coaching skills.
  • ServSafe or Department of Health Certification is preferred.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Excel.
  • Associate's degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.
