Position Overview:
BWXT is currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for its Advanced Technologies division. This role is integral to our innovation hub, where we explore and develop cutting-edge nuclear reactors and propulsion systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed engineering tasks related to component and system design, including the creation of drawings, calculations, and technical reports.
- Engage in component design while ensuring the integration of assembly, testing, and inspection processes within mechanical systems.
- Apply design control and configuration management principles effectively.
- Incorporate design for manufacturability and operational efficiency into projects.
- Adapt to new procedures and tools while overseeing various production stages.
- Define procurement specifications for mechanical components and system functionality.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Physics is mandatory.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of relevant experience is essential.
- Experience with nuclear reactor core components and related systems is required.
- Familiarity with ASME Code, Sections III and VIII is necessary.
- General knowledge of project engineering processes, including task planning and scheduling, is expected.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are crucial.
- A collaborative mindset with the ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders is important.
- Capability to thrive in a dynamic team environment while also being self-sufficient is essential.
- U.S. citizenship is required, along with the ability to obtain a security clearance.
