Job Description:

  • The Mechanical Engineering Technician will support the Public Safety Radio HW Design organization through performing fabrication, rework, alignment, troubleshooting, and characterization of electronic products.
  • This role is also responsible for generating accurate test data intended for internal and external customer use.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechanical characteristic tests on various products.
  • Test data reporting and data analysis
  • Perform fabrication of prototype assemblies and evaluation.
  • Perform mechanical tests on various products.
  • Understand and follow appropriate test equipment / safety procedures.
  • Maintain product configuration information in appropriate documents.
  • Maintain status of units in process.
  • Support the troubleshooting and rework/repair of mechanical systems and/or their subassemblies.
  • Maintain troubleshooting documentation in appropriate process / product documents.
  • Identify ways to improve manufacturability and communicate ideas with appropriate personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Associate degree in mechanical engineering technology, a technical or engineering field.
  • Prefer 2 years' experience with radio mechanical hardware is a plus.
  • Basic computer skills including familiarity with Excel and other Microsoft office applications.
  • Written and interpersonal skills, such as communicating well with customers, management, engineering, and manufacturing as well as other disciplines of the organization.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Successful experience applying planning/organizational skills with effective prioritization of work assignments.
  • Previous successful experience working in both an individual and team-oriented environment.

Preferred additional skills:

  • Knowledge of Mathematics pertaining to machinery.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools.
  • Quality Control Analysis.
  • The ability to use, repair and maintain machines and tools.
  • Technical knowledge and skills in troubleshooting down to the component level; solid understanding and working knowledge of machines and tools
