Job Summary
This role is responsible for overseeing nursing home personnel and nursing operations, including resident care and documentation. The position involves managing nursing staff assigned to specific shifts within the facility. It requires taking action regarding resource allocation within designated time frames. Responsibilities include assigning residents to nursing staff based on their condition and the staff's qualifications. Performance evaluations of employees are essential, along with assisting in the onboarding of new team members and enhancing the skills of current staff. Regular monitoring of resident care areas and other facility aspects for cleanliness and readiness is crucial. Nursing care will be provided to residents as needed, which may include administering oxygen, basic life support (BLS), potential IVs, or medications as prescribed. A solid understanding of clinical practices, strategic planning, administrative, and financial principles is necessary. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are vital.

Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred but not mandatory.

Graduates from nationally accredited nursing programs are preferred, including those recognized by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).

For specific facilities, employees lacking a Bachelor's degree may be considered for an educational plan aimed at achieving a Bachelor's degree in Nursing within five years of hire.

For current employees at certain locations, leadership may consider acceptable qualifications and work experience equivalency based on facility size, rural market, and business needs.


A minimum of three years of nursing management experience is required, with at least two years at a managerial level or higher. One year of experience in long-term care or subacute care is essential.

Thorough knowledge of the nursing practice act and standards of nursing care, along with a working knowledge of administrative and management techniques, is necessary.

A current unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where practice occurs is required, and multistate licensure is necessary if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state.

It is essential to obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
