Position Overview

AECOM is looking for a Project Engineer to contribute to our projects.

The responsibilities of this role encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Executing specific and moderate components of broader engineering assignments under the guidance of a seasoned civil engineer.
  • Collecting and analyzing fundamental engineering data following established procedures.
  • Handling detailed or routine engineering tasks that involve calculations and straightforward testing.
  • Suggesting solutions to new challenges by adapting standard procedures or methods previously established.
  • Identifying inconsistencies in results.
  • Providing mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Completing tasks within the agreed budget and timeline with minimal oversight.
  • Independently managing all necessary tasks to finalize primary design elements for engineering projects, including roadways, sidewalks, recreational trails, and infrastructure.

Performance at this level necessitates relevant experience in a professional capacity.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer license in Iowa or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Prior coursework or experience with Iowa DOT.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in roadway and infrastructure design project execution and delivery.
  • Familiarity with Iowa DOT and local agency specifications, policies, and procedures.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe, and Bluebeam.
  • Strong communication skills with project teams and leadership.
  • Experience with alternative delivery methods is advantageous.
