Job Summary:

The Assistant Nurse Manager plays a vital role in the daily operations of the Bronchoscopy unit, ensuring high-quality patient care and a safe environment. This position requires a skilled and experienced nurse leader who can coordinate patient assignments, supervise staff, and promote a culture of excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Nurse Manager to identify and assess patient safety concerns, intervening to provide a safe environment and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Provide leadership in the delivery of patient care and nursing practices within the Bronchoscopy unit, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and established organizational goals.
  • Supervise and develop action plans to support staff development and improve performance, ensuring efficient quality of care is provided.
  • Assist in monitoring established performance improvement systems to measure fiscal compliance, and assist the Nurse Leader with budget planning, staffing, and scheduling.
  • Oversee the coordination of patient assignments based on staff competencies, including the delegation and assignment of patient care tasks and prioritization of workload.
  • Collaborate with other members of management to oversee the completion of mandatory competencies to meet regulatory requirements, ensuring ongoing adherence and monitoring for compliance.
  • Assist the Nurse Leader with the development of departmental goals, new hire evaluation processes, and promotes inter/intra departmental collaboration.
  • Conduct timely peer review evaluations as it applies to the performance appraisal period and evaluation and ongoing feedback.
  • Actively participate and manage operations during emergency situations, including participation in disaster preparedness.
  • Effectively share integrated learning/knowledge, supporting and/or representing the department for organizational initiatives through participation in meetings, such as staff meetings, shared governance, quality assurance meetings, or committees.

Qualifications:

Education:

Minimum Requirement - Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Preferred - Master's Degree in healthcare, nursing, or healthcare administration profession.

Work Experience:

Minimum Requirement - 5 years' experience in an acute care setting, including two (2) years in specialty and supervisory experience.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • RN State License - CA State RN License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification
  • Other - Other Competencies, as required by your specialty unit (ex. ACLS, PALS)
  • ANCC Specialty Certification
