Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CAT Scan Technologist to join our team at Cook County Health and Hospitals. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing CAT Scan examinations on in-patients and out-patients, processing and critiquing radiographic images, and monitoring the CAT Scanner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and set up all equipment necessary for CAT Scanning examinations.
  • Explain procedures to patients and ensure their safety and comfort throughout CAT Scanning procedures.
  • Send images to PACS system and enter patients in hospital R.I.S. (Cerner).
  • Set appropriate scanning data on equipment and obtain images of excellent diagnostic quality.
  • Perform quality assurance tests daily and document time.
  • Order necessary supplies and maintain an adequate inventory.
  • Assist in teaching CAT Scanning procedures to residents, technicians, and students.
  • May initiate IVs for administration of contrast media.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a two-year American Medical Association-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Certification in CT through the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-time work experience in performing Computerized Axial Tomography (CAT).
