Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled CAT Technologist to join our Radiology team at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing CAT Scan examinations on in-patients and out-patients, processing and critiquing radiographic images, and monitoring the CAT Scanner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and set up all equipment necessary for CAT Scanning examinations.
  • Explain procedures to patients and ensure their safety and comfort throughout CAT Scanning procedures.
  • Send images to PACS system and enter patients in hospital R.I.S. (Cerner).
  • Set appropriate scanning data on equipment, including milliamperage, exposing time, slice thickness, and scan fields.
  • Obtain images of excellent diagnostic quality and ensure slices are of acceptable quality.
  • Perform quality assurance tests daily and document time.
  • Order necessary supplies and maintain an adequate inventory.
  • Assist in teaching CAT Scanning procedures to residents, technicians, and students.
Requirements
  • Graduate of a two-year American Medical Association approved School of Radiologic Technology.
  • Certification in CT through the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT).
  • Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of one (1) year of full-time work experience in performing Computerized Axial Tomography (CAT).
