Huttig Building Products is seeking a skilled Assembly Technician to join our warehouse team. As a leading wholesale distributor of specialty building products and millwork, we provide our dealers with top-of-the-line products from the best supplier brands in the country.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare materials or merchandise for assembly line production by reading provided tickets that identify materials needed.
- Assemble various millwork products such as exterior and interior door units, wooden patios, dutch doors, casing, and window units by reading orders.
- Identify necessary modifications; operate machinery that modifies the product; prepare the product for shipment by applying casing, sleeves, stickers, etc.
- Inspect the overall quality of assembled product throughout the assembly process.
- Repair and/or disassemble defective millwork to prepare it for resale or restock.
- Maintain a clear production area free of debris; properly store and secure work materials, hardware, tools, and equipment.
- Attend all safety trainings and meetings; comply with OSHA and agency safety policies.
- Perform routine maintenance on all tools used including: cleaning, oiling, checking to ensure proper functioning, calibrating machines, checking measuring tool accuracy, and notifying a supervisor of larger repairs or malfunctions.
- Willing and able to be cross-trained to handle all stations along the line.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior experience working in a warehouse.
- Experience operating warehouse equipment such as chop saw, door machine, and drill.
This is a full-time position with a day shift schedule. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a loud environment and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
