Position Overview

The Sanitation Technician is tasked with maintaining a hygienic and secure atmosphere for patients, visitors, and healthcare personnel. This position demands an individual who is meticulous, capable of working autonomously, and dedicated to delivering exceptional service. The Sanitation Technician executes various cleaning duties, which include but are not limited to: floor stripping and refinishing, carpet cleaning and extraction, waste disposal, and the safe handling of biohazardous materials. The Sanitation Technician also manages the secure transfer of confidential documents as necessary.

Compensation is competitive and aligned with experience and educational background. The starting pay is approximately $21.75 per hour. This role is classified as non-exempt. Weekend shifts are part of the schedule. Eligibility for shift differentials applies for qualified shifts.

Qualifications

Minimum Education
  • A High School Diploma or GED is preferred, though not mandatory.
Experience
  • Previous experience in environmental services or a healthcare environment is preferred.
Required Certifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to communicate courteously and effectively with the public, patients, families, staff, and physicians while adhering to the chain of command, utilizing positive verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the capacity to adhere to established cleaning protocols.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Capability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service to patients, families, staff, and physicians.
  • Familiarity with infection control procedures and regulations.
Physical Requirements
  • Manual dexterity and mobility are essential.
  • Ability to engage in prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking.
  • Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, and turning are required.
  • Near vision acuity: ability to see clearly at a distance of 20 inches or less.
Work Environment
  • Regular exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
  • Frequent exposure to hazards from electrical, mechanical, and power equipment, as well as unpleasant elements such as chemicals and specimens.
  • Regularly required to lift, carry, push, or pull weights exceeding 50 lbs.
  • Frequent activities include bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, turning, and reaching.
  • Occasional exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, including x-ray and microwave.
