Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Family Peer Navigator to join our team at Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs. The successful candidate will provide confidential support, mentoring, advocacy, and guidance to families of children and youth with behavioral health and/or autism spectrum disorder receiving services at St. Christopher's Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Family Support
    • Provide emotional support and positive role modeling to parents and caregivers.
    • Coach families to develop advocacy skills and make informed decisions.
  • Program Coordination
    • Coordinate services with families and hospital staff.
    • Develop individualized roadmaps for families, ensuring accurate, specific, and aligned services.
  • Community Outreach
    • Establish and maintain relationships with community agencies, organizations, and stakeholders.
    • Promote a positive public image of Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs programs.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Participate in regular supervision and team meetings.
    • Attend required trainings and meetings.
    • Document services and activities in the Electronic Healthcare Records/Program Database system.
Requirements
  • Experience
    • Parent/guardian with direct experience raising a child with a behavioral health and/or autism spectrum disorder diagnosis.
    • Two years' experience/knowledge of Philadelphia child-serving systems and resources.
  • Education
    • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Skills
    • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to interact with families and other external parties effectively and professionally.
Working Environment

The Family Peer Navigator will work in a variety of settings, including the Greater Philadelphia Urban Affairs office, community settings, schools, family homes, treatment programs, and other locations as needed.
