Medical Laboratory Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist to join our team at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas.
Job SummaryThe Medical Technologist will be responsible for providing laboratory services to patients in accordance with accepted practices and departmental and hospital standards of care.
Key Responsibilities- Maintains high degree of competency in the operation of equipment in the performance of laboratory services testing, including trouble-shooting, machine repair, and preventive maintenance of instrumentation.
- Assists in quality assurance by utilizing online variance reporting and participates in quality control, performance improvement, and proficiency testing activities within the department.
- Facilitates communication within the laboratory department, as well as laboratory services and other members of the hospital family, and physicians to enhance patient care services.
- Demonstrates specialized knowledge of laboratory services principles in the provision of diagnostic services, while processing reliable test results, including analysis, calculations, and reporting results, utilizing critical skills related to results and the patient's clinical condition.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or current credentials as MLS or CLS.
- Completion of an approved training program for Medical Technologist preferred.
- Clinical laboratory setting experience within the last 10 years.
- Must be CLIA qualified for high complexity testing. ASCP certification or certification eligibility.
