Facilities Maintenance Specialist

This position is responsible for maintaining the physical facilities of the Stoughton Area School District to provide a safe, attractive, comfortable, clean, and efficient environment for students, staff, and the community. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure the upkeep of the district's facilities, including snow removal, equipment setup and takedown, cleaning, and maintenance of buildings and grounds.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist with snow removal and ensure safe passage of students and staff
• Set up and take down equipment for events and activities
• Perform cleaning and maintenance tasks, including sweeping, mopping, washing walls and windows, and vacuuming
• Maintain buildings and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, in a neat and clean condition
• Monitor heating and air conditioning systems and perform routine maintenance
• Open and close campus buildings for school and community functions and security checks
• Operate and maintain custodial equipment and supplies
• Restock disposable items and maintain inventory of custodial supplies
• Identify and implement security procedures and prevent safety hazards
• Work cooperatively with district staff, students, parents, and the community to respond to issues and concerns
Requirements
• High school education or equivalent
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations
• Good manual and mechanical ability and ability to work independently in various environmental situations
• Possess and maintain a valid driver's license
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds and perform other physical demands of the job
Working Conditions
The successful candidate will work in a variety of environmental situations, including inside and outside buildings, and will be required to perform physical demands of the job, including lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The job requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
