Job Summary:

The Emergency Department Supply Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all supplies and equipment are available and maintained in the Emergency Department. This includes stocking, cleaning, and maintaining supplies and equipment in treatment bays and in treatment area carts and specialty carts.

The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment. They will also possess basic knowledge of medical supplies, instruments, and equipment, as well as the ability to organize and maximize storage space.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Stocks, cleans, and maintains supplies and equipment in treatment bays and in treatment area carts and specialty carts.
  • Inventory and stocks special purchase items and items in central supply rooms.
  • Works with staff from other hospital departments to continually improve the Environment of Care in the Emergency Department.
  • Collaborates with Emergency Department clinical and administrative staff, Environmental Services staff, Biomedical Engineering staff, Sterile Processing staff, and others to identify and remedy supply and equipment problems, obtain supplies and equipment, and coordinate equipment cleaning and repair.
  • Completes report at the end of each shift to document tasks completed and items requiring follow-up.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma required and 2 years prior experience in a similar clinical setting preferred.
  • Ability to stand for several hours at a time, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling.
  • Basic knowledge of medical supplies, instruments, and equipment.
  • Ability to organize and maximize storage space.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
