Job Overview

Position: Quality Specialist – Contract role with potential for permanent placement based on performance and organizational needs

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM

Work Arrangement: Primarily remote with occasional in-office presence required

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Training: Initial orientation will take place in the office, followed by remote training sessions with minimal in-office attendance.

Role Purpose:

The Quality Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting various quality initiatives within the organization. This position collaborates with team members across different departments to enhance quality standards. Responsibilities include conducting quality assessments, gathering performance metrics to identify trends, and collaborating with others to pinpoint areas for clinical and process enhancements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and interpret accreditation criteria, ensuring compliance with internal actions based on these standards.
  • Assist in the organization’s preparation for accreditation processes, including communication with surveyors and tracking necessary documentation.
  • Conduct reviews of patient care documentation and perform quality assessments.
  • Oversee the completion of deviation reports and monitor the effectiveness of corrective action plans.
  • Collect, validate, and analyze quality data to identify performance trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support internal quality enhancement initiatives and proactively seek out improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure adherence to accreditation standards and quality program objectives.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of accreditation standards throughout the accreditation cycle.
  • Assist in preparing for quality and regulatory audits conducted by external entities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in a healthcare quality role, focusing on accreditations and quality projects.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of quality improvement and performance management principles.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across different functions.
  • Competence in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting operational metrics.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adjust priorities as necessary.
  • Proficiency in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related healthcare field.
  • Certification as a Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
