Data Center Network Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Network Administrator to join our team at TEKsystems c/o Allegis Group. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the operation, optimization, and maintenance of our data center infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate and maintain the data center infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure network security and compliance with industry standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, including connectivity problems, routing errors, and performance degradation.
  • Responsible for the rack and stack, cabling, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all IT equipment, tools, and consumables in the data center.
  • Adhere to and enforce data center best practices, including cable management, airflow management, and labeling.
  • Support enterprise-level network requirements and ensure network hardware has a secure baseline configuration.
  • Install updates to network equipment and IOS software, and maintain network logical and physical topology.
  • Configure and install new or replacement network hardware, including VLAN configuration and routing.
  • Investigate and report security breaches, and collaborate with the supervisor to ensure continuity of security measures.
  • Provide system maintenance, including monitoring logs and backing up configurations.
  • Devise methods for performance enhancement and manage and maintain servers, databases, appliances, services, and applications hosted at the data center.
  • Provide on-call support and participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of networking protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, VLAN, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and DNS.
  • Hands-on experience with network hardware, including switches, routers, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • Proficient in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, such as Wireshark, SNMP, and packet analysis.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of data center best practices.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V, and experience with SDN/NFV concepts is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with the Command Line Interface (CLI) used by Cisco devices.
  • Knowledge and use of Office 365 applications.
  • Knowledge and use of ServiceNow or similar ticketing system.
  • Must be willing to travel when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE are highly desired.
  • DoD 8570 IAT II certification (Security+)
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
