Position Title: Communication Strategist (Military Activities)

The U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) has a distinct requirement for joint staff planning that emphasizes the integration and synchronization of Department of Defense (DoD) military operations with United States Government (USG) strategies. This role involves crafting inputs for strategies, campaign plans, and operational concepts that align strategic and operational goals with a series of coordinated activities and operations, collaborating with various DoD components, USG agencies, allies, coalition partners, and regional stakeholders.

The Communication Strategist will deliver strategic, planning, exercise, and policy services tailored to communication needs that support unique Joint Planning Team/Operational Planning Team (OPT) initiatives.

Location: U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) Headquarters

Security Clearance Level: Top Secret/SCI eligible

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer expertise in developing and synchronizing communication strategies and plans.
  • Provide subject matter expertise during the formulation of Key Leader Engagement (KLE) policies.
  • Recommend designs for KLE management tools and oversee data management within these systems, including KLE data, read-outs, and strategic messaging content.
  • Deliver senior onsite support for the creation of communication initiatives or strategies, encompassing themes, narratives, actions, activities, and audience identification.
  • Monitor key themes and messages from USG leaders to ensure alignment of Concept Plans and OPLANs with USG strategic messaging.
  • Advise on methodologies and processes to unify communication efforts across USCENTCOM, subordinate commands, Joint Staff, and interagency partners.
  • Facilitate the integration of communication plans, operations, and assessments across Public Affairs, Information Operations, and Key Leader Engagement disciplines.
  • Coordinate with relevant USCENTCOM directorates to align communication efforts with designated plans.
  • Prepare and present effective oral and written briefings to senior leaders on relevant topics.
  • Develop and revise Annex Y: Commander's Communication Strategy for CONPLANs, OPLANs, and OPORDs.
  • Manage FOIA requests and Mandatory Declassification Reviews (MDRs) in accordance with legal standards governing the processing, declassification, and release of information from USCENTCOM files.
  • Advise on the FOIA and MDR Program to ensure compliance with USCENTCOM directives regarding the safeguarding of plans and orders.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of planning experience in areas related to Public Affairs (PA), Information Operations (IO), Key Leader Engagements (KLE), or Civil Affairs (CA).
  • Completion of Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) I is preferred.
  • Experience in Corporate Marketing is advantageous.
  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • Prior experience with USCENTCOM is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Must be eligible for TS/SCI clearance.
