Position Overview

The Safety Coordinator will be instrumental in safeguarding the health and safety of all personnel on our construction sites. This role involves the implementation and maintenance of safety programs, conducting thorough safety inspections, and ensuring adherence to all pertinent safety regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular safety inspections and audits of construction sites to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs tailored to the specific needs of each project.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective measures.
  • Provide safety training and orientation for new employees, along with ongoing training for current staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and compliance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, supervisors, and team members to foster a culture of safety and integrate safety practices into daily operations.
  • Ensure the proper use, maintenance, and availability of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety gear.
  • Stay informed about local, state, and federal safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Assist in developing emergency response plans and conduct regular drills to ensure preparedness.
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute to the continuous enhancement of the company’s safety management system.

Qualifications:

  • Language: Must be proficient in Spanish.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certifications: Relevant safety certifications (e.g., CSP, CHST, OSHA 30-hour, FDOT Advanced M.O.T.) are highly desirable.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety role within the construction sector.
  • Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of OSHA standards and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to train and motivate others. Detail-oriented with robust organizational skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to various construction sites as necessary.
