Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the individual in this role will oversee the acquisition of all goods and services for the organization, ensuring alignment with quality standards, service expectations, availability, and competitive pricing. This position involves conducting thorough purchasing needs assessments in collaboration with the hospital team, formulating procurement strategies, and effectively communicating these to relevant departments. The Director will initiate and sustain vendor contracts to assess pricing structures, negotiate terms, solicit bids, and uphold product quality standards. Additionally, the role includes making formal recommendations regarding capital investments and managing all aspects of inventory control, including periodic inventory assessments and maintenance of stock records. The Director will also be responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials, supplies, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Specific Duties:
  • Formulates and implements policies, procedures, and standards for procurement.
  • Evaluates the performance of materials management systems through the analysis of purchasing, warehousing, and inventory reports.
  • Oversees the preparation of the supplies budget for all service units and analyzes spending patterns and usage trends.
  • Supervises and assesses the performance of staff responsible for vendor agreements.
  • Makes decisions regarding hiring and termination of supervised personnel.
  • Establishes and enforces controls to ensure proper submission, billing, and payment cycles.
  • Guarantees accurate and timely billing in accordance with established procedures and third-party requirements.
  • Ensures that materials management staff receive the necessary training and education to fulfill their job responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate care to the patient population served.
Job Functions:

Qualifications:

Education:
Associates degree or equivalent experience.

License/Certification:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification through the American Heart Association, maintained throughout employment.

Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of management experience.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Materials Technicians

Additional Requirements:
Participates in or leads company-wide training initiatives to prevent improper use and disclosure of patient health information. Ensures compliance with company policies, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards.
