About the Team

The Power & Project Finance Group is a specialized team of experienced industry experts with a proven record of structuring and efficiently executing custom financing solutions for owners of power generation assets and power-related infrastructure projects across the United States. The team provides construction and term debt, acquisition financing, revolving credit facilities, and letters of credit for projects in the solar, wind, natural gas-fired, energy storage, geothermal, hydroelectric, and transmission sectors.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Power and Project Finance Associate in El Segundo, CA or Denver, CO to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial modeling and analysis, identifying key risks, assisting senior bankers with loan structuring and pricing, preparing extensive written credit analysis, and assisting with credit presentations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial modeling and analysis, identifying key risks, and assisting senior bankers with loan structuring and pricing.
  • Preparing extensive written credit analysis and assisting with credit presentations.
  • Providing analytical, underwriting, and marketing support during the origination and execution of new lending opportunities.
  • Reviewing loan documentation and due diligence materials.
  • Keeping informed of financial and market trends in the power and energy industry and the impact this has on new opportunities as well as the existing portfolio.
  • Applying all applicable credit policies and internal processes for the execution and funding of new transactions.
  • Developing relationships and credibility with key internal constituents.
  • Developing external relationships with clients, including junior members of client companies, and serving as a backup contact for clients when primary relationship managers are unavailable.
  • Acting as primary account officer on assigned transactions within the portfolio, including maintaining accurate risk ratings, executing amendments, preparing monitoring materials, and other tasks and administrative items.
  • Assisting with the training, development, and work review of other analysts and associates.
  • Some travel is required.
Qualifications
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related field and 4+ years of experience in commercial lending, investment banking, project finance advisory, or relevant buy-side experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may meet qualifications.
  • Advanced knowledge of project finance, power generation, project development, structured finance, leveraged finance, investment banking, or private equity investing.
  • Proven ability to organize multiple demands on time and assist with the oversight, training, and development of junior bankers.
  • Strong attention to detail and high degree of proficiency producing written analysis of financial statements, modeling outputs, and key risks and mitigating factors.
  • Strong analysis and Excel-based financial modeling skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to quickly establish credibility with new people and cultivate relationships (internally and externally).

Compensation

This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $120,000 - $135,000 annually depending on job-related factors such as level of experience.
