Job Title: Executive Director, Research Integrity and Compliance

Job Summary:

The George Washington University is seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead its Research Integrity and Compliance Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing policies, procedures, and programs related to research integrity, ethics, compliance, research conflicts of interest and commitment, and research security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategic and operational institutional policies and procedures related to research compliance.
  • Direct and manage the Research Compliance and Quality Assurance Office.
  • Facilitate and ensure the appropriate implementation of the process for addressing allegations of research misconduct.
  • Oversee the development of responsible and ethical conduct of research (RCR) programming.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of a robust and streamlined research conflict of interest program.
  • Oversee compliance for the university's export control program.
  • Supervise research compliance officers.
  • Provide leadership and communication to maintain a competent and engaged employee group.
  • Facilitate the inspection of regulatory committee activity records and on-site research facilities by regulatory agencies.
  • Identify opportunities to build strategic relationships between departments and units.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 10 years of relevant professional experience, or Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study.
  • At least 2 years of senior leadership/executive level experience.
  • Expertise in research compliance, preferably in higher education or a research institute.
  • Ability to maintain the highest level of professional conduct and integrity.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position with a hybrid work schedule. The employee will be required to work on-site and may be required to travel to regulatory agencies and other locations as needed.
