The Assistant Director for Education and Integration envisions, plans, manages and executes the educational outreach and related integration strategies of the Secretariat/Committee. Provides key input for all educational, legislative and communications strategies. Represents Executive Director at meetings with bishops, bishops’ committees, external organizations and multiple USCCB departments. Assists in promoting and implementing the bishops’ strategic priorities for the Conference and demonstrates shared qualities of effectiveness in all work interactions

1. Envisions and oversees the development and marketing of the annual Respect Life Program, including the market research, contractor engagement, drafting, internal review, distribution and promotion of the program’s print and digital resources. From conceptualization to delivery, every step must meet a tight schedule so that materials can be distributed in time for Respect Life Month in October.

2. Oversees major initiatives of parish and grassroots integration efforts such as the “9Days for Life” (reaching over 200,000 participants),“Respect Life Prayer and Action”, “Word of Life”, “Monthly Prayer Guides”, various novenas, and email campaigns.

3. Researches, analyzes, envisions, and coordinates the Secretariat’s/Committee’s efforts in response to current developments and events with timely programming, resources and educational campaigns as required.

4. Directs the marketing and distribution of print materials with a retail value in excess of $1,200,000.

5. Coordinates the development of liturgical, prayer, and worship resources for every Sunday of the year, plus occasional homily resources, and provides them to bishops, diocesan pro-life directors, and parish leaders.

6. Provides key input for planning legislative, educational, and communications strategies undertaken by the Secretariat/Committee.

7. Provides important input for planning the annual National Conference of Diocesan Pro-Life Directors, as well as all conferences sponsored or co-sponsored by the Secretariat.

8. Assists with planning and leading the New Directors’ Orientation for diocesan leaders every two years.

9. Leads staff in providing timely guidance and resources (“Diocesan Connections”, sharing local contacts, and Action Alerts) to diocesan pro-life directors and state Catholic conference directors in regard to critical issues and events.

10. Keeps abreast of pro-life issues as well as major initiatives of the abortion industry and the promoters of assisted suicide and euthanasia and prepares responses.

11. Envisions and oversees the outreach to and collaboration with partnering organizations to integrate the Church’s teachings and the Secretariat’s/Committee’s resources into parish life and typical Catholic programs.

12. Initiates and oversees major contracts with partnering organizations and contractors in order to integrate Secretariat resources nationwide.

13. Oversees the strategy, development, and provision of educational resources for ecumenical communities.

14. Provides leadership, collaboration and development of resources and promotions for prayer and worship programming.

15. Contributes articles to major print and on-line magazines, newspapers and journals, as appropriate.

16. Presents on pro-life issues for dioceses and pro-life organizations and provides pro-life engagement and presence at national and regional conferences, as appropriate, to assist integration efforts.

17. Designs and leads nationwide trainings and webinars for diocesan and parish leaders.

18. Negotiates contracts with print and translation vendors, and coordinates all Spanish language translation services for the entire Secretariat.

19. Tracks appropriateness of existing print and on-line resources and makes changes to stock as needed.

20. Contributes to the development, preparation and review of bishops’ statements, documents, homilies, and other communications on pro-life issues.

Level: bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
