Diesel Locomotive Mechanic Job Summary

Minnesota Commercial Railway is seeking an experienced diesel locomotive mechanic to join our maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining diesel locomotives to ensure safe and efficient operation.

About the Job

  • Conduct thorough inspections of diesel locomotive engines and mechanical components to identify potential issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including lubrication, filter changes, and brake system checks.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with diesel engines, air equipment, and trucks.
  • Collaborate with other technicians to achieve optimal locomotive performance and minimize downtime.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience as a diesel locomotive mechanic or in a related field.
  • Technical degree or certification in a related field (e.g., diesel engine technology, mechanics).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Compensation

  • $25-$34 per hour, depending on experience.

Work Environment

  • Work in a fast-paced, safety-sensitive environment with frequent exposure to loud noises and fumes.
  • Regularly climb ladders, get on/off equipment, and work at heights above ground level.
