Service Deli Manager

As a Service Deli Manager at Albertsons, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a superior quality product that exceeds customer expectations. You will work closely with the Store Director to maintain a fresh inventory, process administrative paperwork, and maintain accurate department records.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on providing fast and friendly customer service.
- Assist customers by making product suggestions, filling special orders, and food preparation suggestions.
- Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately, receive and resolve customer complaints, and report to the Store Director as needed.
- Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, in-store intercom, and one-on-one customer interaction.
- Implement proper and efficient product preparation and packaging techniques, use and operate related equipment, and prepare sandwiches, salads, pizzas, hot and cold foods, and food/party trays according to company standards.
- Maintain deli case cleanliness, visual appeal, and inventory levels, ensure proper cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of the deli area, equipment, and a safe work environment.
- Ensure temperatures are maintained in all phases of preparation, display, and storage.
- Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees, schedule employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
- Plan daily operations, monitor production processes, and maintain profitability.
- Prepare sales and inventory reports, control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness, and maintain inventory levels according to division directives.
- Stock and rotate product, maintain and organize cooler, and understand opening and closing department procedures.
- Build displays, rotate, and discard outdated or spoiled product, and comply with company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
- Responsible for insuring proper code dating for all products within the department, train employees on store policies, sales, and record-keeping procedures, and identify and train employees with high potential for advancement opportunities.
- Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance, initiate personnel actions, and implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
- Perform receiving duties, including breaking down loads, verifying orders, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product, and adhere to product temperature and storage guidelines and follow proper packaging techniques.
As a Service Deli Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that proper temperature levels for product are maintained, ensuring proper signing of products, including accurate pricing and Country of Origin Labeling (COOL), complying with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, Company, and code dating policies.
You will also be responsible for ensuring safety, cleanliness, and sanitation of the sales floor, work area, freezer, cooler, equipment, cutting boards, and display area, including code date compliance as required.
Additionally, you will be responsible for implementing emergency procedures in the event of equipment and computer software malfunctions, performing all job duties and responsibilities safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity, and other necessary and required duties.
This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, a good understanding of overall company practices and Service Deli Department policies and procedures, and the ability to frequently reach, lift, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to approximately 60 lbs.
You will also be required to comply with and ensure compliance with company grooming standards and dress code, manual dexterity, and good eye-hand coordination, mental alertness to ensure safe and accurate completion of work activities, and knowledge of basic mathematics and weights and measures.
This role may require occasional travel, including overnight travel, and you will be required to work in an environment-controlled environment, frequent exposure to refrigerated conditions and items at or around 35°, and occasional exposure to -20° F while handling products in the freezer.
