Overview

Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, a leading provider of cancer care, is seeking a skilled Radiation Oncology Nurse to join our team in Thornton. As a key member of our radiation oncology team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to our mission of providing the best cancer care possible.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough baseline assessments on new radiation oncology patients, reviewing medical records and comparing data to inform treatment plans.
  • Perform weekly and PRN assessments to monitor patients for side effects of radiation and report changes in patient status to physicians.
  • Implement plans of care in accordance with established standards, guidelines, and protocols.
  • Complete admission assessments for patients scheduled for radiation therapy and coordinate with the radiation therapy team to ensure seamless care.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, and staff, adhering to department safety and OSHA policies.
  • Evaluate and assess patient education and learning needs, providing information to patients and their families based on these needs.
  • Function as a patient advocate, respecting patients' rights and confidentiality.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited professional nursing program, with a BSN preferred.
  • A current RN state license and registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • A minimum of two years of nursing experience, with oncology experience preferred.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a fast-paced oncology/hematology clinic environment, with possible exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and medical preparations. You will need to be able to stand and walk for extensive periods, lift and carry items weighing up to 40 lbs, and have corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
