Position Overview:

  • The Registered Nurse (RN) is tasked with overseeing the treatment of patients dealing with general medical-surgical or orthopedic issues, as well as those undergoing various surgical interventions. This role necessitates comprehensive evaluations pertinent to specific health conditions and the implementation of relevant therapies and procedures.
  • The RN reports directly to the unit's Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a tailored patient evaluation, prioritizing data collection based on the immediate needs of adult or elderly patients, adhering to the client facility's established policies and protocols.
  • Conduct continuous assessments as dictated by the patient's condition and adjust care priorities accordingly, in line with facility guidelines.
  • Formulate a personalized care plan for each patient, reflecting collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Administer prescribed treatments promptly and accurately as directed by the physician.
  • Implement therapeutic nursing interventions as outlined in the individualized care plan for the patient and their family.
  • Deliver customized patient and family education tailored to the needs of the adult or elderly patient.
  • Document findings from patient assessments, responses to nursing interventions, and progress towards resolving identified issues.
  • Initiate emergency resuscitation procedures in accordance with adult resuscitation protocols.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding patient, family, and facility staff matters.
  • Provide care in a respectful, non-discriminatory manner that acknowledges the diversity of patients and their families, safeguarding their rights and dignity.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with orthopedic equipment and ensure safe patient transfers and ambulation using appropriate devices.
  • Maintain current competencies in adult medical-surgical and orthopedic nursing practices.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program with active licensure in good standing.
  • Minimum of one year of recent experience in medical-surgical or orthopedic nursing within a hospital setting.
  • Current AHA BLS certification is required.
