Position Overview

Role Summary: Registered Nurses (RNs) are essential in fostering health and preventing disease. They deliver expert nursing care to patients who are acutely ill, recovering, or managing chronic conditions as instructed by the Medical Staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care, particularly in Medical Surgical settings, focusing on the holistic needs of patients.
  • Administer medications under physician supervision and meticulously document patient symptoms and progress.
  • Oversee the work of licensed practical nurses (LPNs), nursing assistants (CNAs), and nursing students.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and fulfill care responsibilities tailored to the specific standards for each patient's age and diagnosis.
  • Engage in effective communication with healthcare providers, charge nurses, and team members regarding any changes in patient conditions, including diagnostic results and symptom evaluations.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to shifts in patient health status or treatment responses.
  • Perform nursing duties across various departments with appropriate oversight.
  • Adhere to the Five Rights of Medication Administration to minimize the risk of medication errors.
  • Develop a patient education plan based on identified learning needs and assess the effectiveness of the instruction, involving family or caregivers as necessary.
  • Interact with patients, families, colleagues, and healthcare providers with respect, dignity, and compassion.
  • Recognize and address the psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs of patients and their families or caregivers.
  • Exhibit knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan and apply the necessary skills to provide age-appropriate care to the patient population served.
  • Document patient care in accordance with established standards and policies.
  • Contribute to the orientation of new personnel and participate in available in-service training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
