Job Summary:

As a Pool Attendant with the Fairbanks North Star Borough, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of spectators, participants, and staff involved in aquatic activities. Your responsibilities will include enforcing safety rules, providing staff support for office operations, and maintaining the cleanliness of pool and locker room areas.

Key Responsibilities:

Enforce safety rules in a polite but consistent manner
Present aquatic instructional programs to community members using a prepared lesson plan
Perform lifesaving and first aid procedures as needed
Provide routine clean-up, sanitizing, and general maintenance in pool and locker room areas
Offer office support, including cash handling activities and operating a credit card machine

Requirements:

Sixteen years of age at time of employment
Possession and maintenance of certification in Standard First Aid, Lifeguarding/Water Park Training, and CPR-PR as recognized by the American Red Cross
Ability to work nights and weekends
Good communication skills and ability to deal with the public in a pleasant, tactful, and courteous manner

Working Conditions:

This position requires a criminal background investigation and fingerprinting. You must also pass a swimming proficiency test. The work environment is a recreation facility with pleasant conditions, good cleanliness, and minimal accident probability. You will be required to perform short periods of moderate lifting, pushing, or pulling.
